Normanna Reorganization Meeting Minutes
March 22, 2004

The Normanna Reorganization Meeting was called to order on March 22, 2004 by Dan Johnson at 6:05 P.M. at the Normanna Town Hall. Present were Supervisors, Dan Johnson, Will Rhodes, Marcia Stromgren; Clerk/Treasurer, Tammy Courrege.

The clerk gave the oath of office to Dan Johnson for Supervisor for a 3 year term.

There will be no changing of materials since there is no officer change.

A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to nominate Dan Johnson as town chair. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

Dan Johnson said a vice chair cannot be selected without a resolution. The selection of a vice chair will be tabled until next meeting because resolutions cannot be done at a reorganizational meetings.

A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to keep the monthly meetings the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 P.M. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to keep the Budgeteer as the official newspaper to publish legal notices. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

The supervisors wages are currently $35.00 per meeting. A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to raise the chairpersons wage up to $50.00 per meeting. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried. A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to keep the other supervisors wages at $35.00 per meeting. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to keep the mileage reimbursement at the current federal guideline rate. Dan Johnson seconded. All for. Motion carried.

Last year the township paid the officers for up to ten outside meetings. A motion was made by Dan Johnson to allow the officers to be compensated for attending SLACTO, MAT, DAT, short courses, and other meetings concerning township business for up to 10 meetings per year. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried.

The clerk/treasurer wage is currently $250.00 a month and $35.00 per meeting. A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to keep the clerk/treasurer wage at $250.00 a month and $35.00 per meeting. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

The board reviewed and designated supervisors for certain duties. A motion was made by Will Rhodes nominating to keep Dan Johnson as road supervisor. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried. A motion was made by Will Rhodes nominating to keep Marcia Stromgren as building and grounds supervisor. Dan Johnson seconded. All for. Motion carried. The fire liaison supervisor is currently Will Rhodes. Marcia Stromgren offered to take over. A motion was made by Dan Johnson to nominate Marcia Stromgren as liaison with the fire department. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried. A motion was made by Dan Johnson nominating to keep Will Rhodes as Land Use supervisor. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried. Dan Johnson was willing to keep the Building supervisor position. A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren nominating to keep Dan Johnson as Building supervisor. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried. A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren nominating to keep Will Rhodes as web page moderator. Dan Johnson seconded. All for. Motion carried.

The 7 posting sites were approved at the annual meeting. A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to keep the 7 current posting sites. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dan Johnson to keep the depositories at Wells Fargo and Paine Webber. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dan Johnson to keep the photo copy reimbursements at $.11 per copy. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried.

There were no conflict of interest with the officers since there were no changes in the elected officials.

A motion was made by Dan Johnson to have the town's official mailing address at the clerk's home address. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried.

The snow plowing contractor to plow the township roads is currently St. Louis County. A motion was made by Dan Johnson to have St. Louis County plow the township roads and town hall driveway for the upcoming 2004-2005 season. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to have claims to the clerk the Wednesday prior to the meeting. Will Rhodes seconded. All for. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Marcia Stromgren to have the minutes and agenda to the supervisors one week prior to the meeting. Dan Johnson seconded. All for. Motion carried.

Marcia Stromgren will continue to put together welcome packets to give to the new residence.

Marcia Stromgren talked about Robert's Rules of Order. She feels the meetings would run more smoothly if we followed them. She will post them in the meeting room and people who attend the meetings will be informed to follow them.

The spring short course is coming up April 1st in Grand Rapids and April 2nd in Eveleth. Marcia Stromgren will be going with the Gnesen township. The other officers will decide closer to the dates.

Marcia Stromgren encouraged the board to go to the next DAT meeting May 20th at 7:30 P.M. They will be having a discussion on Meth labs.

A motion was made by Dan Johnson to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 pm. Marcia Stromgren seconded. All for. Motion carried.
